The Chinese Medicine Database is currently seeking Translators of Medical & Classical Chinese:

The Chinese Medicine Database commissions all of the translations on the Database. Each Translation is an original work that was created specifically for use on the Database. Some works we feel are valuable enough to our community that we will publish them both on the Database, and in book form. The majority of our translations though are only available on our Database.

Our foremost interest, is to increase the number of source documents that are available to the average practitioner (who does not speak or read Chinese). We believe that this will help the Chinese medicine community by creating reference material that other practitioners can use for their own research.

Initially, we plan to release raw translations (translation that has been edited, but is without commentary or annotation) on the Database, and also possibly as books. These documents will help interested researchers formulate ideas and help focus areas of interest. Once we have enough raw translation, we will begin to focus on adding commentray and annotation to our translations both in the Database, and in our books.

Since we source, and commission translators to translate specific works for our use, we reserve the complete rights (digital and/ or print format) to the comissioned document, in exchange for payment at the time of delivery of the document.

Translators who are interested in working with the Database, must be able to read and write both Chinese & English. The Translator's name will be credited on the database for every line of translation, that was translated ny them. The Translators name will also be credited for any future publications.

The CM-DB is interested in translations that the Council of Oriental Medical Publishers would label as Denotative Translations, where denotative translation emphasizes qualities of the departure language.

CM-DB will pay a set amount for each text that is specified on this page. All texts will be Reviewed by the Editor of the Chinese Medicine Database, (to establish accuracy) before any payments are made.

The Chinese Medcine Database, sources all of its documents directly from China. We will supply the Translator with the documents to be Translated from our Library of texts. Translators should contact us, with the title of a text that they are interested in Translating. Texts are presented in both English and Chinese in order for the academic community to verify the accuracy of each translation.
